OWAZONE-innovation has reveiced EU – project funding – the method is now piloted with waste waters from Terrafame mine

Cleantech company Owatec Group Oy (Previously Oulu Water Alliance Oy) has begun the OWAZONE innovation piloting with Sulphate-rich waste waters from Terrafame mine.  After the treatment metals and Sulphate from waste water are recovered and water can be recycled back to the process.

OWAZONE concept succeeded in the European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT) Climate-KIC’s Venture Competition 2015, which is a clear indication of the innovativeness and business potential of the concept recognized by venture capitalists and environmental technology experts.

At 2016 the success of the concept continues as OWAZONE received funding from EIT Raw Materials which allows Owatec Group to scale the concept and perform global marketing analysis as well selecting the customer segments. The first commercial unit is planned to be built at 2018 by Owatec Group Oy and potential Joint Venture -partners.

Along with OWAZONE, the Owatec Group has also other ambitious plans. The company is commercializing new products for consumers at 2017. The new products will be placed under subsidiary company and crowdfunding for the products is at the planning stage.
