OWAreactor is electrochemical oxidation reactor, which is capable to remove industrial pollutants from the wastewater streams, organic impurities as well disinfect drinking water and municipal wastewaters.
Reactor has inert multimetal electrodes. Efficiency of the reaction can be increased with NaCl-addition, which rises the conductivity of the water and hypochlorite (strong oxidizer) is produced without other chemical additions. In the reaction there is formation of the microbubbles, which induces flotation of the impurieties. Method is found suitable for decreasing COD and BOD in waste waters.
By changing the electrodes to iron electrode, OWAreactor is electrochemical coagulation device which coagulates the impurities of the water by sacrificing its iron electrodes. Device is currently under test use.
